Designing Egyptian race for my own project on Trackmania2020.
I imagined an Egyptian universe based on the pyramids of Keops.
- The map is divided into 4 parts, the first area is covered with building debris, scaffolding and a stone quarry.
- The second zone is underground with catacombs, underground pools.
- The third area takes place in the great pyramid, we explore the interior which has become flooded over the years.
- On leaving we arrive at the last part which is more directed towards the water. We move on a water reservoir and then on an aqueduct which finally leads to the finish.
I didn't want to have a arid desert but rather make a giant oasis. This is why I created multiple reservoirs and aqueducts throughout the map. This gives a nice contrast between the dry desert in the distance and the humidity provided by the water which created many of the plants.
I started by doing a first decoration test on the beginning of the map to have a sample and be able to replicate it on the rest. Once this step was done I continued the route in stages, to move forward with the decoration of the parts of the already made roads. Once the road and the first outline of decoration were made, I polished all the passages.
The race has very little decoration due to the 4MB 3D asset limit with Trackmania.
